From the previous summaries for compound selection it can be seen that:-
ー Each compound type has unique advantages/disadvantages
ー No one compound offers exceptional braking in both hot/cold, wet/dr y environments
ー Generally braking performance is offset by high disk/pad wear and or noise.

Sintered pads deliver the best wear, high temperature performance and are suitable for most hash environments. However Sintered doesn・t perform as well as Organic in the cold and by its very nature (more than 60% metal) it generates and conducts a great deal of heat to the brake fluid.

This heat build up can course expansion of the brake fluid leading to brake-drag issues (this is known as :pump-up;). In the extreme cases the fluid can vaporize resulting in a total loss of brakes.

This is were all those hours of R&D really paid off as it enabled us understand that the best solution would be a brake pad made up of more than one compound...SOS (Sintered, Organic, Sintered)! The low metallic Organic compound is located in the middle of the pad resulting in less heat being transferred to the brake piston. In fact the heat transfer rate is 3x less than a fully sintered pad but yet its braking performance is on a par, what・s more the cold temperature performance is that of an organic pad. Hence SOS is truly a universal high performance pad that excels in all environments and all riding styles.

Features of the SOS PAD

ー Exceptional high temperature performance
ー Exceptional low temperature/short term braking performance
ー Exceptional wet performance
ー Reduced heat generation due to smaller sintered area
ー Reduced heat transfer due to organic material over piston contact area
ー Exceptional pad wear (pad wears at the rate of the sintered compound)
ー Very Good noise characteristics
ー Good Disk wear due to reduced sintered area
In short SOS is the professional choice for all rides
