Disk Brake Pads:
Over the years Ashima have developed a range of disk brake pad compounds that excel for specific styles of riding, environments and performance requirements. The compound range is simply broken down by %metal content and is classified as follows:-
Organic: <30% Metal
This compound is targeted specifically at the general town/city road user
  ー Excellent short term braking
ー Very good noise characteristics
ー Very low disk wear
ー Poor wet performance (compared to other Ashima disk compounds)

ー High pad wear
ー Poor high temperature performance (compared to other Ashima disk compounds)

Semi Metal: >30<60 % Metal
Formulated specifically for frequent users giving improved off-road performance, ideal for cross country
ー Good all round breaking performance
ー Improved wet performance (over organic)
ー Average to high temperature use
ー Improved pad wear (over organic)
ー Good noise characteristics
ー Prone to noise
ー Higher disk wear when compared to Organic

Sintered: >60 % Metal
With very high metalic loading this compound has been formulated specifically for very frequent hard use in all environments, ideal for competitive cross country & down hill
  ー Exceptional high temperature performance
ー Exceptional wet performance
ー Exceptional pad wear
ー Good noise characteristics
ー Prone to noise
ー High disk wear
ー Due to heat generation can course :pump-up;

Backing Plates
Options: Steel/Aluminium
Ashima offers two backing plate options mild-steel asstandard and an Aluminium option (for a selected range ofSemi-Metallic pads).

Aluminium backing plates offer a 30% weight saving!Care should be taken when selecting this product asAluminium conducts heat 3x faster than mild steel, so not for long continuous applications due to “pump-up”.

All steel backing plates used for organic/semi-metal compounds are sandblasted primed for max compound adhesion, once the product has been fully cured its cleaned and painted to ensure outstanding corrosion protection.

All steel backing plates for sintered compounds aresandblasted and then electro-plated with copper, this not only ensures exceptional corrosion protection but also greatly improves the bonding of the compound during the sintering process.
